A medieval village of character whose walls, built between 1366 and 1489, are among the most spectacular in the region. Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Corinaldo preserves the past in its medieval centre where it is pleasant to stroll and lose track of time. The town is also known for its well, known as the "polenta well", which is located in the middle of a staircase with 109 steps. A man is said to have fallen in with his sack of flour while sitting on the edge to rest. While waiting to climb back up, the local people who helped him were said to have advised him to wait while preparing polenta
