It is usually to visit the beautiful Romanesque collegiate church, built in the 12th and 13th centuries, that one goes to this charming town, overlooking the Orcia valley, and situated on the Via Francigena, 45 kilometres south-east of Siena. The portals of this collegiate church are particularly noteworthy, one dating from 1080, the other from the 13th century. Inside, the superb triptych of Sano di Pietro is worth seeing. The town is also home to one of the most beautiful Italian gardens of the 16th century, the Horti Leonini (located near the Porta Nuova). Finally, a market is held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
