Buonconvento (population 3,200) has a relatively small medieval quarter that can be explored by following Via Soccini. The Palazzo del Podestà (14th century), with its numerous coats of arms on the façade and its clock tower, is worth a visit, as are other imposing medieval residences also built in the 14th century: the Palazzo Borghesi, the Palazzo del Municipio and the Palazzo del Glorione. Buonconvento also preserves a significant part of the walls that defended the city in the 14th century, as well as the Porta Senese to the north. Outside the town, 4 km to the west, is the Castello di Bibiano (9th century).
