With all its bustle concentrated around Piazza Independenza, Arcidosso has little to attract attention. However, nature lovers will appreciate this quiet village as a backdrop to the many walks in the area. The national park, which includes the extinct volcano of Mount Amiata at an altitude of 1,738 metres, is ideal for hiking and skiing in winter. An hour's drive away are the incredible thermal baths at Bagni di San Filippo (Siena region). Finally, wine lovers will discover a relatively new red wine, the Montecucco, about ten kilometres from Montalcino.
