Scansano is worth a visit for the beauty of its countryside and its local oil. It's also the birthplace of Morellino di Scansano, a DOCG red wine whose fame has long since spread beyond Italy's borders. Every August 10, on San Lorenzo Day, for the "Brindisi sotto le stelle", everyone opens their doors and sets up tables in the alleyways for an evening of tasting and gastronomy. Monteregio di Massa Marittima, white from Pitigliano, Morellino di Scansano, red from Montecucco (Campagnatico and Cinigiano)...: you name it. Local specialties, such as pasta with wild boar sauce, are also on offer.
