Located 30 km southwest of Ravenna, Forlì is a pleasant stopover. The Rocca di Ravaldino, a fortress in which Caterina Sforza resisted Cesare Borgia's assault for 25 days in 1500, welcomes us. Today it houses the city's prisons and part of the building hosts exhibitions. In the heart of the city, Piazza Aurelio Saffi bears witness to the profound architectural interventions of the Fascist period. The medieval Palazzo della Comune (City Hall), the 15th century Palazzo del Podestà (Podestà Palace) and the Basilica of San Mercuriale with its imposing Romanesque bell tower and Renaissance works of art can also be found here.
