A monument - a mausoleum, to be exact - to Ghana's first president, Kwame Nkrumah, stands here in Nkroful, with an unassuming inscription on the walls. This is the birthplace of the former president, who was born and raised here on September 21, 1909. He was also buried here on July 9, 1972. You can make a detour here after visiting Axim and nearby Fort Santo Antonio. The B&Q Resort Hotel is also well worth a stopover in Nkroful at night.
