This bay starts 6 km west of Teluk Dalam, but the village of Lagundri is 12 km away. Lagundri was the main port of the island until it was razed in 1883 by a wave of the kind that destroyed Maumere, on Flores, in 1992. The tidal wave was following the Krakatoa explosion. The port was rebuilt in Teluk Dalam. You can find Surfeurs surfers waiting for Big-One. The surf on the right of Sorake is world famous from June to October. The pros say that the March 2005 earthquake has still "improved" the wave.Lagundri is paradise as some can imagine. The beach, superb, is bordered by coconut trees and the turquoise blue sea offers waves to get mad. Unfortunately many native people hunt the pigeons and we must beware of everyone. You will be asked for no more than six times the normal price for a motorcycle or transfer to the airport. Paradise can quickly turn to hell. Moreover, a crisis of "bétonite" is raging on the coast and small bungalows have almost disappeared for constructions that rot the landscape.
