San Rafael, a tiny coastal village northeast of Puerto Princesa, is best known as the starting point for long treks, notably to the west of Palawan, to Sabang, Saint-Paul National Park and the Underground River. Lush tropical forests and unspoilt wildlife are the interesting facets of this demanding trek. We cross a wide variety of magnificent landscapes. Cold springs and cascading streams abound. A competent, reliable guide and good physical condition are required for this two- to three-day trek, which is not very easy but offers superb panoramas.
