The Olongapo Peninsula, also known as the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, is a town next to the city. Opened to tourism a few years ago, the base brings together all the necessary activities and structures: businesses (mass media and electronics research and development companies), a university, schools, shopping centers and hotels of all ranges. Olongapo is the starting point for excursions to the Zambales coast. The town itself is nothing extraordinary, except for its market and its location (surrounded by mountains, close to Mount Pinatubo). The main attraction is diving.
