Travel agencies organize tours of this 5.5 km2 island in Manila Bay, once one of Asia's most important military sites. The former Spanish-period village, with its lighthouse to mark the entrance to the bay, became a strategic point for the Americans, who transformed it into a fortified island. During the Second World War, Corregidor was a strategic site for defense against the Japanese invasion. In addition to its war relics, "The Rock", as it's nicknamed, offers some very beautiful scenery.
