15 km from Rantepao, in the direction of Palopo, lies Nanggala Village, famous for its traditional Tana Toraja houses. It's the largest village in the region, with fourteen rice granaries lined up in a row, bearing witness to past abundance, thanks to the surrounding rice paddies. A colony of bats once lived in the bamboo at the entrance to the village, adding to its charm. Today, the village is far removed from the tourist circuit, as modernization has somewhat altered its beauty, notably with the appearance of tin roofs. Despite these changes, Nanggala remains a place with a rich cultural past.
