Ishøj is only 20 kilometers from the Danish capital, surrounded by green woodland. It also boasts a 7-kilometer long beach, one of Copenhagen's most popular. But the main attraction is the Arken Museum of Modern Art, an architectural marvel by architect Søren Robert Lunde. On display are modern works of art and a collection of around 400 pieces of contemporary art by prestigious names such as Damien Hirst, Olafur Eliasson and the duo Ingar Dragset-Michael Elmgreen. Smart tip: you can come by bike or rent one on site, as there's a lovely 37-kilometre cycle path. You might as well make the most of it!
