Bagsværd, 16 km northwest of Copenhagen, is a residential area on the southern shore of a large lake. The town is known to Danish residents for its high-flying private school, Bagsværd Boarding School, founded in 1908; and for the headquarters of Novo Nordisk, a leading pharmaceutical company in the treatment of diabetes, with its original contemporary architecture, designed as a circular tripod open in its center like an eye turned to the sky! The place therefore attracts lovers of contemporary architecture who come to admire the church designed by a great master of organic architecture, Jørn Utzon.
