Between Ørsteds Parken and the lakes near Nansensgade, Bankeråt (translated as "Bankruptcy") is a meeting place for local artists and intellectuals, but also attracts smart tourists! Authentic harbor tavern atmosphere at Haralsborg! It's a popular spot for regulars, from eternal barflies to trendy youngsters who come here for a friendly drink. To be precise, beer, a beverage of honor in this latitude and undoubtedly the cheapest in Copenhagen! Some also come to play billiards, surrounded by psychedelic floral wallpaper. The hero and master of the place is a boxing champion. Old beer advertisements on metal plates decorate the room.

A single room with a giant screen! Rare in the land of multiplexes! With its 996 seats, Nordic Film Cinemas Imperial or Biograf for the regulars, is the largest cinema in Scandinavia. The cinema opened in November 1961 and was completely renovated in 2013. Screen of 142^m2, hyper comfortable seats, new lighting in addition to the super performing Dolby Atmos audio system. A must-see for movie lovers in the Danish capital, it can also screen 70mm films. New releases and film club on the program.

The Copenhagen Film Archive is located opposite Kongens Have, the King's Garden near Rosenborg Castle. Several spaces welcome you: a large café, an exhibition room, a bookshop, a library, and three cinemas with screenings. Free admission for documentaries, short films and children's films. The library has one of the largest collections of film and television literature, while the Videoteket provides access to over 14,000 films and the entire Media Stream catalogue.

Small, gay coffee, very friendly.

A central cafe - and therefore very tourist! - with a large terrace in summer near Strøget. Inside, the frame is embellishment but bright. The staff is not necessarily very helpful, but perhaps it is a permanent move. Good location for breakfast. The addition is a bit too salty.

Café Diamanten is a small diamond nestling on the cobblestones of Gammel Strand, opposite the Thorvaldsen Museum. Apart from the quality of its breakfasts, it boasts a sunny terrace from early morning to late afternoon. On Saturdays in particular, there is a very popular flea market, which is a great place to take a break. You can eat hearty salads and toast (traditional recipes) or sip cocktails... Many people come for the board games.

Here's a hip little cocktail bar with an ultra-friendly atmosphere. The shaker shakes before your very eyes and the glasses wait on a large table! Welcome to the booming port district of Nordhaven, at this other address (opened in 2019 with a rather sober industrial decor) surrounded by massive silos. Here you can enjoy exceptionally good coffee and pastries with just the right amount of sugar, neither too much nor too little, not to mention deliciously crispy puff pastry croissants! The company roasts in bulk and has become one of the best in the business, especially when it comes to specialty coffees (Chelchele from Ethiopia, Kiangoi from Kenya...).

A café and restaurant located in the Danish Architecture Center, the DAC, an impressive glass building overlooking the water. This establishment remains true to the design atmosphere of the Center. Simple Nordic dishes are served, with notes from around the world, and prepared with local products. The varied menu offers dishes for vegetarians or meat lovers. To top it all off, the view of the capital from the terrace on the water and the large windows of the café is splendid!

Absalon is a living space open to all created in 2015 in Vesterbro. It allows you to immerse yourself in Danish life: here neighbors meet for a joint dinner, party with friends and share a game with grandparents. Imagine an extension of your home with music, dancing, concerts, table tennis, backgammon or banko, yoga classes, a flea market... In short, there is always something going on with 60 events per week. All this in a beautiful brick building that looks like a castle!

A former pharmacy dating from the 1880s, now a temple to cocktails! Muffled lighting, an open fire and attentive service are the ingredients of this successful address. Three floors dedicated to sophisticated beverages: Flor de Jerez, Østersø Cola, Pompier or Smoked Peaches are just some of the tangy, sweet, fresh or spicy cocktails you can try. Nestled in a beautiful 1740 mansion, Ruby is renowned for its excellent cocktails. In 2023, it was once again selected as one of the fifty best bars in the world. In this temple of mixology, there are 2 atmospheres: a sleek, Scandinavian-style room with a long contemporary bar, and a subdued back room inspired by English pubs with their old-fashioned Chesterfields sofas! The clientele is well-to-do, trendy thirty-somethings. The waiters are dressed in old-fashioned clothes, the ambience and setting are sophisticated, and the cocktails exquisite. What class!

Christiania is a district with a sulphurous reputation, so you might as well go there with your friends. First contact: a warehouse, a graffitied facade, a red and gold sign that invites to the jazz club and a crazy room with a rhythm of music of all jazz colors... The smallest room of Christiania and Copenhagen - but also the most underground - which was, at the time, a children's theater. It has become a famous and unmissable venue for all those who love hip-hop, reggae or electro music.

This is a very original little café with a very retro atmosphere. A little bit out of the way, close to the Amagerbro metro station and the beach. At Joe's, fruit is king! Both fresh and dried, they are prepared differently each time, depending on the month of the year. Is it worth mentioning that they are organic? A line of bikes waits parked in front of a lit shop window. Where are we now? Almost an institution, Jaguar is a bodega (it says so right at the entrance!) with slot machine, jukebox, pool table, darts, cards, dice... and barstools for an even more authentic feel! Here, you can mingle without fuss and strike up a conversation with a local, even if there's a good chance that your English and/or theirs is not very good, but that doesn't change the conviviality. And it's good for your feeling of being part of real Danish life.

A library-library-café that has kept all its charm of the time before. Paludan is located in the old Jewish quarter, just behind the university library. Its history is linked to the students and the books they needed. The setting is very pleasant: a gourmet area set up in the middle of books and libraries on two levels! Teas and coffees are famous, you can also order wine or beer, sandwiches in case of small hunger or brunch on weekends. On Thursdays from 5 pm, debate around a literary work.

A little piece of France in Copenhagen and a love story at the start of the adventure! Chabadabada... Gloria is an arthouse cinema to the glory of good cinema! Located on the town hall square in the heart of the city. The programming is very eclectic. The films shown come from all over the world and give pride of place to films in OV with English subtitles. A great opportunity to discover the cinema honoured with a palm or a bear during an evening preview, with a speaker to enrich the subject. Following the screening, a pot of friendship organized at the café (ground floor) allows you to share your impressions with the very knowledgeable staff.

A former cinema that was to become a supermarket! Thanks to music enthusiasts, it's now a modern music arena, but at the same time an intimate venue that plays host to internationally acclaimed bands from all over the world: Prince, James Brown, Dua Lipa, Texas... And it's been going on for 25 years! In 2022, to celebrate the jubilee of this important anniversary, the program included Eagles of Death Metal and Matt Goss! With 130 concerts a year, you'll find an opportunity to experience the venue in all its intensity.

Very good bar located in the night district of Kødbyen, essential to go out in Copenhagen, where lovers of good music, beer and youth of the capital meet. One of the oldest bars in the Meatpacking District. Its name evokes the old activity of the district when on Friday night masters and butcher apprentices came to drink a pint to close the week! Daily programming of music and DJ, we take advantage of it because the place is opened all the week except Sunday. Good music and varied clientele.

A game of pétanque... it's fun! Fernandel sang it and the Boulebar understood it well. Even if the atmosphere is a bit franchouillarde with sailors and pastis by the liter, the fact remains that the place is more than nice and very frequented by Danes of all ages! We drink, we eat, but we come here especially to shoot or to point! There are several bowling alleys where you can meet with friends for a relaxing moment. On Saturdays and Sundays, the game is accompanied by a brunch with flavors of the South of France. Really great!

In Nørrebro, a pub/auberge with a traditional look but a wild atmosphere at night! A great place to spend an evening with friends, enjoying a cold German beer and a homemade hot dog, or delicious German-inspired cuisine! Inside, the decor immerses us in the Black Forest, with animal skins and rustic furniture in the image of the place's sign: wild boar and deer antlers. All the more reason to rekindle your Gallic spirit to the sound of live music or the decibels of DJs on a program that's always very electric.

An establishment that is the talk of Copenhagen's trendy youth. You'll be amazed by the incredible coffered ceilings, reminiscent of Dubai's palace ceilings, and the walls decorated with criss-crossing geometric lines generated by ultra-contemporary light and laser effects. So it's under this new kind of vault that you can jump, dance and let yourself go to the sound of the turntables of international DJs. The atmosphere will be over-the-top! If you're an opera lover, you'll love Copenhagen! The program is rich and eclectic, in the original version with Danish subtitles. It is directed by Elisabeth Linton, who is also chief dramaturge at Malmö Opera. You can also enjoy the Royal Opera Chorus, Denmark's largest professional chorus, with 40 singers divided equally between men and women (yes, this is Denmark!). The choir has been directed by Australian-born Steven Moore since 2018.

RvH's classicism and value for money. A sign that is easy to identify: a ring-shaped loaf of bread from the pretzel family wearing a crown. This royal bakery opened in 1897 and has been run by the same family ever since. It is considered to be the great specialist in wiener brød. A brown, moulded cereal bread which, as its name does not at first glance suggest, is a typical Danish speciality and not a Viennese one. A food base comparable to the local baguette! There are also generous sandwiches.

Founded in 2017 by Lars Williams and Mark Emil Hermansen, Empirical is a small distillery created on the industrial island of Refshaleøen. Over the course of the summer, we taste cocktails that are, to say the least, original, born of the distillation process, but above all of the importance of playing with flavors, aromas and the memories they fix in us or revive throughout our lives! While production is now based in New York, mixology continues in Copenhagen in fine weather. It's even better to share a moment together!

A place for people 21 and over. Club with soft lights. Electric and industrial decor. Nice selection of cocktails and speciality: arranged shots. La Boucherie plays the French touch. Here, pictures of the Eiffel Tower, there intoxicating drinks. On the dance floor, we sway our hips to the sound of house, electro, dance, with the resident DJs on the decks. For a more intimate atmosphere, go to the nooks and crannies of Bar 2. La Boucherie combines the pleasure of a vitamin-packed house cocktail with a night of good humour!

Mojo Blues Bar is probably one of the few places in Europe where you can hear live blues music every night of the week (from 10pm). The name comes from the lyrics of old blues songs like "Got my mojo working" or "Went down to Louisiana to get my mojo hand"... It's an amulet, a sort of talisman worn to attract your soul mate. Afterwards, the DJs keep you dancing all night long. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial. In addition to blues music, Mojo organizes evenings of soul, rock, blues rock, rock blues, zydeco, bluegrass...

La Fontaine is a bar where only jazz music is played. Popular with Copenhageners, it's a paradise for lovers of Sunday jam sessions. The atmosphere is relaxed. Beer flows freely. You're surrounded by red walls adorned with photos of jazz musicians. On stage, passionate bands. An intimate room for a hundred or so guests. Ideal for meeting new people in a tight, sticky atmosphere! But be sure to arrive well in advance if you want a chance to settle in.
