BROCANTE (THORVALDSENS PLADS ANTIQUE MARKET)

Antique shop
5/5
1 review

It is already 20 years since Throvaldsens Antique market became the favourite market of the Copenhaguen people in their treasure hunt for old objects. Golden location on the banks of one of the old canals near Christianborg Palace and the Thorvaldsen Museum. Stands run by a group of antique dealers, which means that you can hunt for a good number of quality objects, far from the usual garage sale style unpacking. Antiques, retro objects, vintage, danish porcelain, ceramics, design objects...

HOLMEGAARD

Arts and crafts

The history of the Holmegaard glassworks began in 1825. Here you will find all the treasures from the glassblowers' and designers' workshops in Naestved, a factory located in the south of the Seeland. A visit to the production workshops is a good idea for a getaway to learn about hand-blown or machine-blown glass techniques depending on the production needs. The hand-blown objects are identified by a sticker with a swan. Glasses, carafes, vases, Christmas ornaments can be found in most department stores in the kingdom at almost the same price.

KLASSIK

Decoration store

This is a magnificent showroom, where you'll find hundreds of articles, decorative objects and furniture by twentieth-century designers, stacked one on top of the other, crammed together or installed in selected settings. Among the most famous are Kaare Klint, Ole Wanscher, Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen. Lamps, ceramics, tables... Scandinavian design to (re)decorate your home. Even if you don't plan to buy, a look at the warehouse in Amager, close to the KPH aquarium, is well worth a visit.

DANSK MØBELKUNST GALLERY

Furniture store

A showroom so beautiful that only one desire comes to mind: to move there. Indeed, each space is treated as a room in the house. The sublime furniture is on a par with the Scandinavian design of the 1920s to 1970s. Ole Høstbo opened this shop in 1992, which also serves as a gallery of unique and original masterpieces (shelves by Christian Vedel, Halyard chair by Hans J Wegner) and in particular contemporary objects in limited editions (Claus Bjerre...). Exclusive therefore, expensive of course, but above all a pleasure for the eyes!

KERAMIKER INGE VINCENTS

Arts and crafts

From the outside, one is first of all caught by the light escaping from the place. On closer inspection, you see nothing but white. Vases, glasses, jars... A pure and minimalist shop where each piece is unique, and yet one would tend to think that they all look the same! Inge Vincents, the artist, works on shapes, volumes, curves, always with finesse and precision. The shapes are born from the folding of thin, translucent white porcelain sheets. In his image, the place is soothing... We have a crush on his work

VIPP HOME

Home decoration and garden store

The famous Danish Vipp litter garbage cans need no introduction. The Vipp story began in 1939, when Holger Nielsen, a young metalworker, built a sturdy pedal-operated dustbin for his wife Marie's hairdressing salon. Over the next 50 years, it became a permanent fixture in Danish clinics. In 2009, the garbage can was included in the design collection of New York's MoMA!
