JONES
Read moreJones is a great vegan café and resto. Breakfast and brunch are served every day it's open, and with them come colorful salads, healthy toasts , gourmet French toast and extra smoothies. It's beautiful, it's good and it's fresh: everything is homemade, using local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible. The oyster mushroom toast, for example, is made with mushrooms grown on a local farm. On certain evenings of the week, the place transforms into a buvette with dishes to share. All at fairly reasonable prices.

SEPTEMBER SURF CAFÉ
Read moreDesigned to be a place that values surfing and its community, September Café is an address that delights Montreal, and not only surfers. In a modern and bright decor, we love to stop for a good coffee or to taste one of the classics of the house. Avocado toast on brioche bread with soft-boiled egg, grilled halloumi sandwich, big breakfast salad but most of all: the pancakes with maple syrup. Soft and (really) hearty, these pancakes are undoubtedly among the best in town, you can't refuse..
DINETTE TRIPLE CROWN
Read moreThe Triple Crown Dinette is a South American style restaurant with fried chicken as the undisputed star. We recommend the plate that includes two pieces of fried chicken, a buttermilk roll, a side dish (green beans and potatoes, pinto beans or coleslaw, for example), a little chicken sauce and a chocolate cookie. Another star on the menu: the famous fried chicken and cheddar and chive waffle combo with Espelette pepper maple syrup. Beautiful, good and inexpensive, perfect for a meal on the go!
TENDRESSE
Read moreLocated in the Village, the bistro's soft, colorful ambience is immediately appealing... and its menu even more so. For lunch, brunch or dinner, or just a quick coffee, Tendresse has it all: from classic burgers and breakfast sandwiches to the more exotic tacos, dumplings and falafels, not forgetting the tasty desserts. It's all really good and vegan! As if that weren't enough, we've also put together a fine wine list and a variety of other drinks. Try it at any time of day.
LABARAKE - CASERNE À MANGER
Read moreIts nickname, the "dining barracks", is a nice nod to the building's past as a former fire station. All the cachet has been preserved and enhanced by an industrial and contemporary style decor. On the menu, a brasserie-style cuisine inspired by Franco-Quebec. For those who like it, oysters are available for a dollar on weekdays from 5pm with a glass of wine. The duck poutine is a classic of the house. Nice gourmet table!

LE PASSÉ COMPOSÉ
Read moreIf you're in the mood for brunch, this is the place to be! Praised by critics and gourmets alike, this eatery prepares a host of dishes with local flavors, thanks to well-established partnerships with numerous Quebec producers and artisans. The two poached eggs with foie gras are a must (brioche bread, duck eggs, pan-fried foie gras, foie gras sauce, onion compote, Prosciutto chips, poppy seeds, arugula shoots, honey-glazed rabioles). Bonus: a really cool cocktail menu.
LE BOUCAN SMOKEHOUSE
Read moreLe Boucan pays homage to the cuisine of the southern United States with this smoke house dedicated to meats smoked on site. Among the house's most popular dishes: BBQ ribs, pulled pork sandwich (also available in a poutine version), BBQ salmon, chicken sandwich with Alabama sauce, and well-topped burgers. Big appetites will opt for the Assiette du p'tit boss, which combines several specialties. It is served with a beer from a Quebec microbrewery or, to stay within the theme, a small bourbon (American whiskey).

PINCETTE - BAR À HOMARD
Read moreOn a beautiful summer day in Old Montreal, we had an irresistible craving for lobster. That's how we discovered this gourmet table that puts forward the products of lakes, rivers and the sea. The lobster is undoubtedly the great star of the place, whole, in raviolis or in guédille (this famous sandwich that we tested, filled generously with lobster meat). The decoration of the restaurant makes some references to the maritime world, in particular with its lobster cages acting as suspended lamps. To test: the Bloody Pincette cocktail.
