Founded by Irish squatters, followed by Scots, English and Loyalists, it was not until 1840 that French-speaking people became the majority. Then, around 1920, the Slavic ethnic communities came to settle here. Rawdon has preserved this beautiful ethnic mosaic and, to highlight it, a multicultural public square has been built. The municipality is famous for its Dorwin Falls, which is associated with the Indian legend of the Nippissingue sorcerer. The waterfalls at Dorwin Park and the village's municipal beach also draw summer crowds to soak up the sun and cool water.
