Saint-Benoît-du-Lac has only one thing: its abbey. The "municipality" was incorporated in 1939 and is administered by the monks who live there according to the Rule of St. Benedict. The abbey is part of the Benedictine congregation of Solesmes in France and is home to a monastery of contemplative life where about 30 monks live. Visitors are welcome for short spiritual stays, whether they are believers or simply looking for a place to recharge their batteries. All around the abbey, the immense estate is home to orchards with some 3,500 apple trees (pick-your-own activity offered in the fall).
