First, there is Georgeville. In the village's 19th century atmosphere, filmmaker Denys Arcand shot scenes from his famous film The Decline of the American Empire. A lot of noise for a quiet village, but it is home to some beautiful residences. A little further south, in Stanstead, magnificent residences dating from the 19th century line its streets, including the Carrollcroft house on Dufferin Street. It is in the Italianate villa style and houses the Colby-Curtis Museum. Interestingly, the Haskell Library and Opera House, as well as Canusa Street, straddle the border with Vermont, USA.
