The town of Bromont, nestled at the foot of Mount Brome, was founded by a family of entrepreneurs in 1964. Its old village, Vieux Bromont, stretches along Shefford Street. There are many nice shops, especially gourmet ones. Otherwise, Bromont's reputation is based on its natural facilities for outdoor activities that are as varied as they are enjoyable: hiking in the mountains, golfing, swimming at the water park, horseback riding (including the major International Bromont competition), downhill biking or at the National Cycling Centre, etc. In winter, Bromont is also a renowned and popular ski resort.
