As you cross the Margaree River, you enter Acadian territory: the signs become bilingual again, the blue, white and red flag with the yellow star of the Virgin flies alongside the Canadian flag. Villages with French names follow one another, including Chéticamp, a charming little fishing port. The village stretches along the Cabot Trail where businesses and residences are gathered. Located at the gateway to the Highlands National Park, it derives most of its resources from fishing, tourism and the sale of its famous hooked rugs. Cheticamp is also an important whale watching area.
