Formerly a town on Île Royale, Louisbourg was an outpost of New France in the 18th century. The historic city, now a national historic site, faithfully recreates this eventful era. The largest historical reconstruction in North America, the site is absolutely worth a visit. Count on at least half a day to visit the site, or even a whole day with an overnight stay to live the full experience. But Louisbourg is not only a fortress, it is also a small charming community of about 1,000 inhabitants, located on the seashore, with breathtaking landscapes and seductive beaches.
