Plan at least a full day at the fortress to step back in time, chat with the "locals" and explore the rebuilt town. Take advantage of the many hiking trails outside the fortress walls. Camp under the stars, safely inside the fortress walls, sleep in a period-style house or stay in modern Louisbourg. Entrance fees apply, but admission is free for young people. Guided tours are available in high and low season. Private guide services can be arranged by prior reservation. Accessible guided tours are also available; advance booking is recommended.
