Glace Bay is located in the eastern part of the highly industrialized Cape Breton Regional Municipality and has a population of just under 20,000. Prior to its amalgamation with the surrounding municipalities, it was the4th largest urban area and the largest city by population in the province. While not a major tourist destination, there are two points of interest to be discovered if you are in the area: the Cape Breton Miners' Museum dedicated to the coal industry and the Marconi National Historic Site from which the first transatlantic radio message was sent in December 1902.
