The main village of Quinchao Island, a pleasant island that has retained its rural character, is called Achao, and it is possible to get there by colectivo from Dalcahue. A road leads from the pier to this small fishing port, nestled in a pretty bay. Luga, a seaweed, is collected here. The church of Santa Maria de Loreto, built of cypress and alerce, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in 1730 by the Jesuits, who wanted to evangelize the people of the Apiao and Chaulinec islands. In the heart of the village, you can admire the roofs of the houses built in larch.
