The park was created on November 17, 1982 to protect its natural resources, flora and fauna. It is located on the Pacific coast of the island and extends over three sectors: Chepu, Anay and Metalqui Islet (Abtao). La Conaf welcomes visitors in a center that presents the park and its riches, shortly after the suspension bridge. From this sector, one can easily access the long sandy beaches that wind between the Pacific Ocean and the park's forests. A small trail just behind the centre will allow you to discover the tepuales forest. Other circuits offer the possibility to go through the coastal zone, to reach the Huelden lake and the areas of the río Cole-Cole and río Anay by crossing the mysterious forest of Chiloé.
