Zenica/Зеница (pronounced "zenitsa") has a population of about 70,000, 84% of whom are Bosniaks. It is the capital of Zenica municipality (110,000 inhabitants) and Zenica-Doboj canton (350,000 inhabitants).The fourth most populous city in the country and the second largest industrial center after Tuzla, Zenica can be a short stop on the way to more interesting destinations such as Jajce, Travnik or the surroundings of Kakanj. It is marked by a socialist architecture and lives at the rhythm of one of the most important steelworks in the Balkans, now owned by the ArcelorMittal group. Located in the Bosna Valley, the city was founded by the Romans under the name of Bistua Nova.
