Renowned for its stone quarry, the locality is proud of its school of stonemasonry and masonry art, a rare institution in Europe. This ivory-colored stone, of limestone origin, is similar to marble. Architects have used it for famous monuments, such as the White House in Washington. Public and religious buildings and the cobblestones of Pučišča are also adorned with it. Several sculptures adorn the quays, giving the locality a special atmosphere, like a city of art on the water's edge. There are many beautiful seaside walks and coves to discover, not all of which are easy to get to.
