Travel Guide Novi Travnik

Novi Travnik/Нови Травник has a population of about 9,000, of which 50 percent are Bosniaks and 46 percent are Bosnian Croats. It is the capital of the municipality of Novi Travnik (population 23,000), in the canton of Central Bosnia. The city is located 13 km southeast of Travnik (frequent bus connections).This "new Travnik" was founded in 1949 to accommodate the workforce of the Bratstvo ("Brotherhood") arms factory, which employed up to 10,000 people here. The factory no longer exists, but Novi Travnik still has about a thousand industrial jobs. There are many medieval necropolises in the vicinity that are linked to the Bogomil movement.
