Kastelli is a small and picturesque village and is one of the oldest in the Lassithi region. Inhabited since 1400 A.D., it owes its name to Castellum which, in Latin, means small fortress. In the last few years, the inhabitants have decided to bring it out of abandonment. Thus, the gardens have bloomed again, the alleys too, several houses have been restored, facades repainted in ochre... A visit which is worth the detour to discover the soft rhythms of a traditional, welcoming and active village. A nice road, shaded by eucalyptus trees, links Kastelli to the neighboring village of Fourni. A beautiful walk!
