The place is very touristy in summer. If you don't like crowds, this may not be the place for you. Hotels, restaurants, bars and discos abound. For swimming, Portes beach, 5 kilometers further on, is much quieter. But that's not why you come here. We recommend a half-day excursion to visit the magnificent Doric temple of Aphaia, one of the three temples in the sacred triangle with the Parthenon and Sounion. Located 4 km north of Aghia Marina, on a wooded hill, this majestic temple dates back to the5th century BC and offers a breathtaking view of the Saronic Gulf.
