At an altitude of over 1,000 meters, Fonni is the highest town in Sardinia, protected by the Gennargentu mountain range with its snowy slopes in winter. It is also the access point to the only winter sports resort, Bruncuspina. In the summer, Fonni becomes a popular destination for hiking enthusiasts. The centuries-old oak forests are populated by mouflons, deer, golden eagles and wild boars. A few kilometers away, the lakes of Gusana and Cucchinadorza offer rural landscapes. Fonni is also an exceptional archaeological center. Its surroundings shelter 18 nuragic villages, 25 tombs of giants, 55 domus of janas and 45 nuraghes
