Travel Guide Antas

This archaeological zone keeps the ruins of the three civilizations that have chosen to settle in this valley, rich in mineral resources. The Roman temple of Antas is an architectural marvel set amidst lush vegetation. Dedicated to the Sardinian divinity Sardus Pater Babai, it was first a Punic building built on a nuragique site. This deity, known by the Carthaginians as Sid Addir Babai and the nuragique civilization like Sid Addir, was recaptured in Roman times by the Romans, who still use the word babai by meaning "father." Sardus Pater was a revered fighter and warrior from the valley.
