To reach Prassonissi, the wild peninsula at the southernmost tip of Rhodes, you have to go inland to Kattavia, the island's southernmost village. Prassonissi is a favorite spot for boarders from all over Europe. The peninsula is connected to the mainland by a spit of sand, which is passable in summer; in winter, the sea level rises and cuts off the cape from the rest of the island. Currents - calm to the east, rough to the west - flow here under a powerful wind. To get there, you have to take the road that winds south of Kattavia for a lonely 10 km. Without a car, there are only a few daily buses from Rhodes city.
