The ancient village of Nebo, mentioned in the Bible, was located on the site of the present-day tell (landform of archaeological remains) of Khirbet Al-Mukhayyat. The fork to Khirbet Al-Mukhayyat (Al-Makhyt) is on the road from Mount Nebo to Madaba at the entrance to the village of Faysaliyyah, where all the mosaic and inlay shops are located. Continue for 2.5 kilometers to the end of the road. There are several ruined Byzantine churches on the site, but the one that will catch your attention is the one of St. Gotha and St. Prokopius with its beautiful mosaics. Few people stop there and it is a pity.
