This coastal town takes its name from a sword(krabi in Thai) which, according to legend, was found in the area. A number of prehistoric remains have also been discovered in the area, proving that it was inhabited by humans around 30,000 BC. On some of the town's traffic lights, you'll see statues of prehistoric men and animals, in a nod to the past. The town has a lot to offer: its riverside location makes it peaceful and picturesque, its lively night markets are a joy to stroll through, and the superb Tiger Cave site nearby is well worth a visit.
