A small town of 10,000 inhabitants, San Ignacio is a bit of a must-see, as its Jesuit ruins are the best preserved in the area and are located in the heart of the "city centre". There is also a small museum of the missions, which is quick but instructive to visit. The place owes its name to Ignatius of Loyola. The inhabitants of this languid and peaceful village are very welcoming and the ruins are very pretty. The hotel offer is minimal, but attractive and very cheap, and the surroundings offer some very pleasant excursions to spend a few days in the green (especially the beaches of the Río Paraná...).
