The city was once called Anunciación de Itapúa, the name given by its founder, the Jesuit Roque González de Santa Cruz. It was later moved, like many missions. A visit to Posadas is a must to visit the Missions. But only a passage... The city does not really offer any particular attraction. Thanks to a well-developed bus network and the presence of an airport, you can easily avoid staying there. It is the most populated city in the area. But it is more attractive to stay in San Ignacio Mini, a small cute village which has the advantage of offering a hotel offer, certainly minimal, but of quality.
