10 km north of Sainte-Rose, the village of Sainte-Anne has an unexpected church. The luxuriance of nature here finds its replica in the floral decoration of its bell tower and its baroque façade. At sunset, the church is tinged with pastel pink. The history of the village is similar to that of its neighbours: it was first a large centre for the production of spice and perfume plants, vanilla, nutmeg and cloves. But these varied crops were quickly supplanted by sugar cane, as everywhere. Today, it is a peaceful town of 6,000 inhabitants where it is good to dive into the icy water of the superb blue basin.
