It owes its name to the quantity of wild oranges that grow there. Hidden by the Orange Ridge, it was one of the last to go to the administration. It was indeed very difficult to get there before the construction of the Orange Trees canalization path. It has its own school and a grocery store and is at the entrance of two paths that allow access to the West: the first, very strenuous, allows you to climb to the Maïdo, located 1 km higher; the second, longer but surprisingly flat for Mafate, allows you to leave the circus by the orange canalisation, at the level of Sans-Souci or at the Port by the Galets river.
