The small leaf medlar wood or boxwood is a shrub endemic to the island that once surrounded the village of Saint-Paul. Sugar and food-producing agriculture has gradually given way to a vast residential area that spills over into the Plaine district and joins Bellemène via the old Hubert Delisle road. The milder climate and the magnificent view are its main assets. It offers little tourist interest except that it is an obligatory passage to the orange tree canalisation or to Sans-Soucis. Both are departures towards the cirque of Mafate and its ramparts.
