Population approx. 11,000. A large town renowned for its thermal baths, Rogaška has seen many prosperous days. Rogaška has been a social center, welcoming the European aristocracy. Habsburgs, Bourbons, Hohenzollerns and Louis Bonaparte frequented the country's oldest spa town, which was already known in Roman times. The spa opened in 1803. People came from Russia, Egypt and the United States to restore their health. In the days of the Yugoslav monarchy, the country's most prominent personalities would meet here. Rogaška used to be a very elegant place, but it's taken on a few nasty wrinkles and has been undergoing a rejuvenating treatment for some time now.
