Everglades City, or Everglades, is located west of Everglades National Park in Chokoloskee Bay. It is a small, green, quiet and authentic riverside town, dotted with preserved historic buildings. It is home to about 300 people and is mainly known as the gateway to the Ten Thousand Islands, an archipelago most of which belongs to the Everglades National Park. The city is very famous for its seafood and hosts the Sea Food Festival in February. One of the four Visitor Centers of the national park, the Gulf Coast Visitor Center, is located in Everglades City
