Located about 30 miles southwest of downtown Miami, Florida City (which is adjacent to Homestead) is crossed by US1, which connects to the Keys to the south. The territory was called Detroit until the city was founded in 1914. Its economy is driven by agriculture. Florida City is one of the last places where you can find food, bargains at theOutlet or spend the night before the main entrance to the Everglades National Park. There are also a few historic buildings to see. Be sure to take a picture of yourself in front of the Welcome Florida City mural to immortalize your visit
