Overlooking the Campiña River, this town is famous for its intense winemaking activity and the production of Montilla-Moriles wines, which benefit from a Denomination of Origin (Denomination of Origin). Like those of Jerez, the vineyards date back to the 8th century BC. Some eighteenth-century churches, open during worship hours, sixteenth-century convents and the palace of the Dukes of Medinacelli, which cannot be visited, make up part of its heritage. The convent of Santa Clara, built in 1512 in a Mudejar style, is worth a visit. And its municipal library occupies the house where the Inca writer Garcilaso de la Vega lived in the 17th century
