Ten kilometres east of Bet She'an, Kibbutz Nir David is also known as Tel Amal, his appellation of origin. Founded in December 1936, it was the first kibbutz of the valley and, above all, the first of its kind, which consisted of a surveillance tower and a fortified wall wall. This structure was intended to protect the inhabitants of the kibbutz of Arab attacks. Subsequently, during the Arab revolts (1936-1939), this mode of construction spread to all kibbutzim. Nir David is crossed by the beautiful Nahal Amal, with the carefully arranged banks. Gan st National Park and the Gan Guru Australian Park (the Kangaroos Park), which are nearby to the west, are quite popular locations.
