In this small town at the foot of the central mountain range and the Ocoa River, you will meet many people with blond hair and green eyes. They are the descendants of the Spanish settlers who took refuge in the mountains during the Haitian invasions by sea. San José de Ocoa is a prosperous town mainly dedicated to the cultivation of vegetables and is not of major tourist interest. Nevertheless, stop at the splendid Freedom Park which seduces with its beautiful gardens filled with plants and which calls for relaxation. Also the house of memories of Father Luis Quinn(Casa de los Recuerdos) who dedicated his life to the village
