This balnearío is located 40 km from Barahona. It has a curious geographical feature: a river rises here and flows into the sea 200 metres further on, creating a huge, magnificent natural pool of translucent water. The balnearío de Los Patos (Spanish for "ducks" ) is famous throughout the region and well equipped. Many Dominicans enjoy a Sunday dip to the sound of the merengue distilled by the nearby bars. Small riverside restaurants offer the added bonus of Caribbean cuisine with a fish or chicken base, in a muy local atmosphere.
