Located 8 km from Cayenne at the mouth of the Mahury River, this residential community is bordered by long narrow beaches. It is bounded by the sea to the east, the Fouillée Creek canal to the southwest and the Tigre mountain to the northwest. The municipality is the result of a merger in 1969 between the municipalities of Remire and Montjoly. Today it has more than 25,000 inhabitants, the Rémire-Montjolyens. Along the "Route des Plages", during a pleasant stroll, you will discover splendid residences, vestiges of the Guyanese history. Agricultural market on Thursdays (6am-2pm) and flea market on the2nd Saturday of the month (8am-3pm), rue du Vieux Chemin.
